A pair of mid-70s Finnish Experimental Electro-Acoustic gems featuring "Suomalaista Elektroakustista Musiikkia" 's Antero Honkanen, masquerading as 1). a picturesque "Music To Accompany Paintings" affair and 2). a straight-ahead jazz-fusion session.

The first disc here covers "Reidarin Sähköiset Kuvat," a wonderful set dovetailing pieces by Honaken & Åke Andersson, composed after paintings by Reidar Särestöniemi at the Experimental Studio of Yleisradio. With a production style owing to the formative works made a few hundred kilometers away at EMS in Stockholm, this set is rife with ghostly voices & errant, floating, bubbling electronics laid out in song-length nuggets, with occasional détournement into "Song of the Second Moon" -esque melodic figures and rhythmic filigree.

The second disc offers the entirety of "Ode To Marilyn," a red-herring if there ever was one; essentially a "Headless" studio session involving Finnish jazz legends Edward Vesala & fellow "Suomalaista Elektroakustista Musiikkia" contributor Jarmo Sermilä taken over by Honkanen's Electronic production, to the point where little of the original instrumentation remains. Honkanen's liberal application of studio effects & filtrations all but eroding the timbral & iterative characteristics of most of the "Playing" here, leaving a spectral slime-trail that's as removed from anything remotely "Instrumental" as imaginable.
